Going Beyond The Classroom

Classroom instruction is wonderful. It’s where students deeply understand grammar rules, learn new vocabulary, and gain appreciation for cultural nuance.

The challenge: Understanding MORE than just the teacher.

Students need real-world practice with native speakers, but immersive opportunities are limited—especially when the classroom is in your home country. Every language student needs more exposure to authentic Spanish. That’s not a controversial statement—it’s common sense. The problem is that getting that practice isn’t always easy.

That’s where Spanish In Real Life comes in.

Hundreds of clips of spoken Spanish—as it sounds in real life—are available for your students. We serve as a stream of authentic listening practice, no matter where your students are located.

As a school member, you get access to all content, can submit new audio for quizzes, and access a teacher dashboard to see all your students’ results in one place.

Our Methodology

This project was inspired by how children naturally acquire language—through repeated exposure to authentic speech patterns in context.

📻 Digital Language Processing

Teachers can upload any audio file up to 30 minutes in length. Our AI tools listen to the audio, transcribe the content, break it into short clips, and set it to adjustable-level practice quizzes. Making even the most difficult audio accessible to true beginners.

🎙️ Authentic Content

Content sourced from podcasts, advertisements, and media. All by native speakers, engaging, and fast-paced. Average clips are ~16 seconds long.

✍️ Dictée-Style Quizzes

Each clip pairs with a transcription quiz that breaks words into textboxes, letting learners type what they hear with easy accent input and real-time feedback.

📊 Adaptive Levels

Every clip has a sliding scale from 100% blank to showing “anchor words” based on CEFR levels. Students complete what they can at their level.

🔁 Repetition & Context

Audio plays on repeat until completed. Students listen out of context, training their ear for liaisons, natural pace, and real-world Spanish flow.

Spanish in real life can exceed 250 wpm (compared to English at 180-200 wpm). Through these exercises, learners improve their confidence and ear for natural Spanish speech patterns.
